1) DO YOU BUY CLOTHING FROM THE PUBLIC?

ANSWER: Not usually. We do not buy/sell/trade with individuals (unlike, say, Buffalo Exchange, which is probably your best bet for selling clothes in Austin). However, never say never! We do sometimes purchase estates or other large quantities, depending on the situation. Feel free to call and discuss!

2) DO YOU SELL ONLINE?/DO YOU SHIP?

ANSWER: Sorry, we do not do any online sales at this time. The items pictured on this site are just to give you an idea of some things we carry or have carried and none are for sale online. As for shipping, it’s not something we do on a regular basis, but if you saw something in our shop and went home without it to Ottowa or Duluth and are pining away with non-buyer’s remorse, give us a call and we may be able to make your dreams come true.

3) ARE YOU HIRING?

ANSWER: At this time we are not hiring. If you’d like to drop a resume off, we will file it away in case something comes up later.

4) WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR CLOTHES?

ANSWER: We are a collective of dealers, and each one of us has our own methods for aquiring clothing for the shop. Some go to estate sales, others buy from wholesale vintage dealers, and some will never tell! And no, the clothing is not donated. We wish!

5) DO YOU GIVE DEALER DISCOUNTS?

ANSWER: Yes, we are happy to accomodate high-quantity buyers with a discount, usually 10-20% off, depending on how much you buy.

Our shopping district on North Loop Boulevard is a great destination that is hoppin’ with independent, locally-owned businesses. With SIX vintage stores in a two block radius, North Loop is truly the “Vintage Row” of Austin!  Blue Velvet is located in the mid-century-era Highland Plaza Shopping Center at North Loop and Guadalupe. Right next door to us is fantastic open-24-hours Epoch Coffee, and on the other side is the powerhouse all-vinyl Breakaway Records. North Loop is also home to bars like The Tigress, restaurants (Foreign & Domestic), and gastropubs such as The Work Horse and DrinkWell.
