Velvet: The key words at BV are 'inexpensive' and 'reasonably priced.'
For more than a decade, this mom-and-daughter team has outfitted
Austin's creative types in the smartest vintage duds at prices even
lowly Chronicle editors could afford."--The Austin Chronicle Kitsch & Vintage Guide
"This funky vintage clothing store and costume shop in Austin has
reasonable prices and a variety of used goods, including men's and
women's clothing, handbags, wild hats, sunglasses, shoes, and jewelry.
It also has a large and quirky costume section, so if you're in the
market for go go boots or a colored wig, this is your stop. The store
is tiny, but full of character and treasures waiting to be found." --About.com "Austin's Best Vintage Stores"
"Whether you poke around in cowpoke shirts, Hawaiian print, corduroy
pants, and polyester-blend slacks or sashay in Chinese silk dresses,
sequins, halter tops, and vintage shirts, you never know quite what you
will find at Blue Velvet, but you're sure to find something. The whole
shopping experience is wonderfully mellow with a helpful but low-key
staff who let you browse and soak in their fabulous selection of
background music at your own pace."--The Austin Chronicle
